Track & Field
Sprints and Middle Distance
Whether you’re an experienced, elite athlete or a total beginner you’ll find your place in our training group. The self-proclaimed “Look Good Run Good Project” is an open, friendly and inclusive group of athletes training for events from 100-800m and hurdles.
We’re expertly coached by Martin Cook who puts a huge amount of effort into each individual in order to help everyone consistently improve. Over the years we have grown to become a group of close friends who welcome and include new members, regardless of ability or experience.
We train on Monday and Thursday evenings at Woodbourn Road Athletics Stadium or the EIS and on Saturday mornings which is usually a hills session. Most athletes in the group supplement their training with gym sessions and other forms of training. This is all advised and personalised through Martin.
Notable athletes
-Tamsin Mcgraw - 800m, England International and BUCS finalist
-Harry Russell - 800m, Multiple BUCS Finalist and Senior UK ranked top 30
-Curtis Mitchell - 110mh, Northern Senior Champion
-Liam Mcgivern - 400m, Welsh International
If you’re willing to work hard, make friends and get involved, joining the group will be the best thing you do at University.
We also welcome athletes from the local area and other universities looking for a coach and training set up.

Field & Multi Eventers
Sheffield is lucky to be a hub for brilliant field and multi event coaches. Our members make full use of these contacts and join local coaches who specialise in individual field events.
In recent years we have had many talented field athletes, including members of the university's ESPS (Elite Sports Performance Scheme).
Please contact Track & Field Captain Ben Whittaker with any queries.
